Sophomore setter Kendall Lord had another solid
all-around match for Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Me. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team defeated
Tufts for the first time since the institution of NESCAC play in
2000, earning a 3-2 comeback victory over the Jumbos on Wednesday
evening. The Polar Bears improve to 13-7 and win their program-best
sixth conference game of the year (6-2 in NESCAC). Tufts falls to
14-6 (5-3 in NESCAC).
Before a packed house at Morrell Gymnasium, Tufts took the first
two sets 25-16 and 25-19 before the Polar Bears rallied to take
25-16 and 25-22 wins and force a decisive fifth set. With Tufts
leading 13-10 in the fifth, Bowdoin won the final five points to
seal the win.
Ellie Brennan, who finished with 10 kills and two blocks, keyed
the winning rally with a key rejection. Kristin Hanczor led Bowdoin
with 12 kills and seven total blocks. Stephanie Drumright had five
kills and six blocks for the Polar Bears, who got 31 assists and 14
digs from Sophia Cornew. Anna Noucas led Bowdoin defensively with
18 digs.
Sophomore setter Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) had a fantastic game
for the Jumbos, posting 47 assists, 12 digs and four aces. Senior
Kelly Engelking (Westborough, MA) led the visitors with 14 kills
while junior Cara Spieler (Santa Barbara, CA) had 13 kills and 19
digs in the loss.
