TUFTS SPLITS SATURDAY NESCAC MATCHES AGAINST BATES AND CONNECTICUT COLLEGE

CAMBRIDGE/BELMONT - The Tufts University women's squash team split a pair of New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matches on Saturday, including their first win of the year with a 6-3 final against Connecticut College.

Against 12th ranked Bates in a match played at MIT, the Jumbos lost 9-0 despite excellent efforts from senior co-captain Valerie Koo (Hong Kong, China) and junior Alyse Vinoski (West Hartford, CT). In the second match, Koo won the third game during a 3-1 loss. Vinoski led 1-0 with an 11-7 game-one victory, but dropped the next three. Sophomore Jessica Rubine (Cranston, RI) was competitive in each of the three games she lost during the fourth match.

In their second match on Saturday afternoon, Tufts played Connecticut College at the Belmont Hill School. Pitting the #23 ranked Jumbos against the #24 ranked Camels, the Jumbos won 6-3. Individual results from this match are not yet available.
