CAMBRIDGE - The Tufts women's squash team finished the first semester with a 4-4 record after defeating Boston College, 7-2, in the last match of the first semester on Sunday at MIT.
The Jumbos, ranked 23rd by the College Squash Association, had wins in the first six matches against #32 Boston College. The 7-2 final makes it look easier than it was for Tufts, which won three matches in four or more games.
After losing the first game 12-10, junior Alix Michael (Mercer Island, WA) won 14-12 in the second game and took the #1 match in four. She finished the first semester by winning four of her last six in the top spot.
Senior co-captain Val Koo (Hong Kong, China) has also won four of her last six after she went even further for her win against BC, taking the fourth and fifth games to win the #2 match. Sophomore Caitlin Doherty (Topsfield, MA) emerged from a 1-1 tie to win the #8 match in four.
Junior Mercedes Barba (New York, NY) earned the easiest win for Tufts, allowing seven points in the third match.
