MEDFORD -- In their spring home opener on Friday afternoon, the
17th ranked Tufts University women's tennis team finished a perfect
first week of NESCAC play with a 9-0 victory against Trinity
College. In four matches since beginning their league schedule last
Saturday, the Jumbos posted 9-0 victories against Colby, Bates,
Wesleyan, and Trinity.
Playing indoors on Friday, Tufts made quick work of Trinity. The
top two doubles pairs earned 8-1 wins. Junior tri-captain
Julia Browne (Old Brookville, NY) and senior
tri-captain Meghan McCooey (Cumberland, RI) won
the first match, and the first-year pair of Lindsay Katz
(Owings Mills, MD) and Janice Lam (San Francisco,
CA) took the #2 competition.
In singles play, both McCooey at #2 and sophomore
Jennifer LaCara (Huntington Station, NY) in the #4
match did not lose a game. Browne was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at #1
singles, while first year Lauren Hollender (Newton,
MA) gave up just two games in the #6 match.
Tufts (8-3, 4-0 NESCAC) travels to Hamilton College for another
