BOSTON - A small contingent from the Tufts University women's track & field team went over to Northeastern University on Saturday and competed in the Husky Spring Open to officially begin the 2011 outdoor season.
In the 1,500 meters, sophomore Toby Crispin (Auburn, ME) finished with a time of 5:09.67 to place 16th out of 52 entrants at the meet featuring Div. I, II and III competition. Senior Jen Yih (Palo Alto, CA) was 14th in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 19:47.93.
Junior multi Kayley Pettoruto (Andover, MA) was entered in the 1,500 and the javelin throw. She had a 5:42.01 time on the track, and 82'8" (25.19m) distance on the field.
The Westfield State Invitational is next on the schedule for Tufts this Saturday.
