Junior Lara Kozin had 17 assists in three games for Tufts this week

NEW LONDON, CT - The Tufts University women's lacrosse team defeated Connecticut College 13-7 in a NESCAC game played on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field Saturday.
The 13th ranked Jumbos improve to 9-3 with a 5-2 record in the NESCAC, while the Camels slip to 4-8 and are 0-7 in league action.
Junior Lara Kozin (Suffern, NY) was the facilitator on the offensive end for the visitors, finishing with a game-high five assists to go with two goals in a seven-point outburst. She had a school-record seven assists on Thursday in Tufts' 19-10 win over Endicott. Sophomore Kerry Eaton (Norfolk, MA) tallied four goals and two assists in the win, while junior Stephanie Perez (East Providence, RI) netted four goals for the Jumbos in the triumph.
Connecticut College junior Katelyn Driscoll (Peabody, MA) tallied three goals and assisted on a fourth goal to lead the hosts. Driscoll has totaled 26 goals, 12 assists and 38 points this spring. Izzie Marx (Ridgewood, NJ) chipped in with a goal and two assists for Connecticut College.
Deanna Ezzio (Pepperell, MA) corralled five ground balls to lead the hosts on the defensive side of the ball.
Tufts University senior netminder Sara Bloom (Summit, NJ) stopped 11 shots for the visitors. Tess Shapanka (Sudbury, Mass.) recorded three saves in relief.
Rookie netminder Caitlin Cataldo (Milford, CT) finished with eight saves for the hosts.
The Jumbos opened up an early 5-0 lead when Perez netted her second goal of the day with 20:13 remaining in the first half. But the Camels clawed back, scoring three of the next four goals. Marx assisted Hope Barone (North Kingstown, RI) for a goal in transition at the 11:58 mark to make it a 6-3 game.
However, Tufts ended the half with a 3-0 run, two of the goals coming off of Eaton's stick, and carried a 9-3 advantage into the intermission.
Abby Hill (Stoneham, MA) put the hosts on the board just 16 seconds into the second stanza to make it a 9-4 game. But Tufts scored the next three goals, building a 12-4 advantage after Kozin tallied with 15:51 to go. The Camels scored three more goals, but Tufts easily held on for the 13-7 win.
The Jumbos are next in action on Thursday at 4:30 pm in their final non-league game at Wheaton. The Camels are at Springfield that day also at 4:30 pm.
