BEVERLY – First year Gabby Horner (Allentown, N.J.) scored four goals while juniors Lara Kozin (Suffern, NY) and Casey Egan (Massapequa, NY) each added three as #13 Tufts downed host Endicott, 17-6, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday night.

Kozin finished the night with eight points, including five assists, to break the Jumbo single-season points record. She now has 87 with 38 goals and 49 assists, surpassing Rebecca Black's 1995 record of 86 points.

The Jumbos (12-6) extended a 10-3 halftime lead by outscoring the Gulls 7-3 in the second half.  They advance to the second round and will travel to SUNY Cortland on Saturday (May 14).

Five other players recorded goals for Tufts including Kerry Eaton (Norfolk, MA) and Stephanie Perez (East Providence, RI), who tallied two apiece. Endicott was led by two goals and an assist from sophomore Holly Davis (Guilford, CT).  Junior attack Morgan DeShaw (Danville, NH) added a pair of goals in the setback.

Kozin and Horner put the visitors on top 2-0 less than three minutes in before Davis cut the deficit in half with an unassisted goal at 26:44.  Sophomore Kerry Eaton's (Norfolk, MA) 34th goal of the season doubled the lead with just under 20 minutes to play until halftime.

DeShaw countered with her first of the day to pull the hosts within one, but Tufts responded with five unanswered over a 10-minute stretch to build an 8-2 lead. Davis stopped the run with another goal at 4:09 before Horner and Egan connected in the final 1:07 to give the Jumbos a 10-3 advantage at the break.

Tufts scored the first four goals coming out of halftime, each by a different scorer, to extend the lead to 14-3.  Kelly Tierney (South Hadley, MA) and Caitlin Pratt (Bow, NH) sandwiched a Sterling Champion (Lighthouse Point, FL) goal midway through the second half to make it 15-5.  Kozin's final goal of the night came at 7:14 and put the Jumbos on top by 11.

DeShaw capped Endicott's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 5:59 mark before Eliza Halmo (Brunswick, ME) finished off the game with a goal at 3:21.
