Reigning NESCAC Player of the Week Kelsey Perkins scored the overtime game-winner

NEW LONDON, CT - Becca Napolitano (Hamden, CT) stopped 23 shots in a magnificent goalkeeping effort for host Connecticut College, but it was not quite enough as ninth-ranked Tufts University scored with three seconds left in overtime to defeat Connecticut College 1-0 in a NESCAC field hockey game on Saturday.
With their eighth consecutive victory, the Jumbos improved their record to 8-1 with a 5-1 mark in NESCAC play. The Camels are 5-4 overall with a 2-4 record in league action.
Senior forward Kelsey Perkins (Barrington, RI) scored the game-winner, her team-leading seventh goal of the year. Sophomore goalie Brianna Keenan (Greenland, NH) made one stop to earn the shutout.
Napolitano and the Camel defense were the story of the game. The Jumbos mounted 25 corners, but Mallory Kosow (Exeter, NH), Andrea Hoisington (Brownsville, VT), and the entire Camel defensive unit kept the hosts in the game until the 85th minute of action.
Perkins was able to break free in transition after the Jumbos broke up an attempted corner. It was the third NESCAC overtime win of the season for Tufts.
The Camels will host Middlebury College tomorrow afternoon for a 1:00 pm game. Tufts will host Wellesley College Tuesday afternoon for a 5:00 pm non-league game in Medford.
