Tufts Volleyball Falls in Four at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, ME - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team completed a weekend sweep of NESCAC opponents with a 3-1 win over Tufts University Saturday afternoon at Morrell Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears improve to 16-4 (5-1 NESCAC) with their ninth-straight win. The Jumbos fall to 12-7 (4-3 NESCAC) after the loss. Bowdoin took the win by set scores of 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Christy Jewett led Bowdoin with a season-high 19 kills. The sophomore also pitched in seven digs and three blocks in the win. Bowdoin received 20 digs from Taylor Vail and 40 assists from Quincy Leech while Katie Doherty delivered three aces and 14 digs. Clare Geyer had four aces and six blocks in the victory.

Tufts got a team-best nine kills from Mary Maccabee, who also added nine digs. Isabel Kuhel had eight kills while Carolina Berger added 17 digs. Kyra Baum dished out 29 assists in the loss for Tufts.

Bowdoin will continue its homestand next weekend with a Friday night match against Wesleyan (8:00 pm). Tufts will return to action the same evening at home against Hamilton (6:00 pm).
