LOWELL - The Tufts men's crew team opened its 2013-14 season with two entries at the annual Textile River Regatta hosted by UMass Lowell on Sunday. In the Men's Open Four, Tufts was fourth overall and the third college out of 16 boats.
Competing in the Open Four was junior cox Kasia Gawlas (Cupertino, CA), junior bow Krzysztof Danielewicz (Hamden, CT), senior 2-seat William Ross (Winnipeg, MAN), freshman 3-seat Douglas Burt (San Marino, CA) and sophomore stroke Jackson Horwitz (Menlo Park, CA). They rowed a time of 22:42.563.
In the Men's Club Eight event, the Jumbos placed 14th. The Tufts boat included sophomore cox Maria Karam (Ottawa, ONT), freshman bow John Bailey (Medford, MA), junior 2-seat Dixon Minnick (Boise, ID), sophomore 3-seat Spencer Moslow (Port Washington, NY), senior 4-seat Lex Clary (Duluth, GA), sophomore 5-seat Zhuangchen Zhou (Nanjing, China), junior 6-seat Jeffrey Aalberg (Cumberland, ME), sophomore 7-seat Jonathan Lapadula (Pelham, NY), and junior stroke Samuel Helrich (Hopkinton, NH). They posted a 21:49.532 finish.
Tufts returns to action at the Head of the Snake Regatta next Saturday.
