MEDFORD - Visiting Babson netted the first three goals, but Tufts outscored the Beavers 16-2 the rest of the way to take a 16-5 non-conference men's lacrosse win at Bello Field on Tuesday night.

Eight players scored goals for #4 Tufts, which won its sixth straight and improved to 6-2. Senior Ben Saperstein (Hewlett, NY) and sophomores Cole Bailey (Millersville, MD) and Chris Schoenhut (Mill Neck, NY) all scored three goals for the Jumbos. Bailey added two assists for a five-point game. Freshman Alex Salazar (Summit, NJ), making his first collegiate start, was strong in goal with 18 saves.

The Beavers lost for the fifth time in six games, falling to 4-5. Sophomore Phil Russo (Middleton, MA) had a goal, an assist, and won 13 face-offs to lead the Beavers.

Goals by Scott Doten (Western Springs, IL), senior Mike Griffin (Duxbury, MA), and Russo gave Babson a 3-0 lead at the halfway point of the first quarter. Tufts would out-score Babson 9-1 in the second half, including 4-0 in the third quarter. Bailey had a man-down goal for Tufts at 7:59 of the third, and junior Dan Leventhal's (Chappaqua, NY) strike at 3:27 put the Jumbo advantage at 11-4 heading into the fourth. Salazar made five saves while blanking the Beavers in the period.

Leventhal completed another six-goal run by the hosts that put the margin at 13-4 with 9:48 remaining in regulation. Babson freshman Spencer Low (Natick, MA) broke the run at 9:28 of the third, but the Jumbos finished up with a pair by Schoenhut and a final goal by Bailey.

The Jumbos are averaging 17.3 goals in three games during their current homestand. In addition to Salazar's goaltending, senior John Heard (Greenwich, CT) caused four turnovers on defense. Junior Kane Delaney (Brookeville, MD) collected seven groundballs and Read finished with five.
