MEDFORD - The fifth-ranked Williams College men's tennis team finished the 2012-13 regular-season with a 16-3 overall record and 7-1 in NESCAC as the Ephs won 8-1 at Tufts on Sunday afternoon at Voute Courts.

Tufts was home for the first time since April 16. In the previous seven days, they had road games at Middlebury in Vermont last Sunday, at Colby in Maine on Wednesday, and at Bowdoin in Maine again on Friday. The Jumbos finished their regular-season with 9-7 overall and 4-6 conference marks.

Tufts will learn if they earned a spot in the 2013 NESCAC Tournament early this week, but the chances look good. The 2013 NESCAC Championship will begin with first round matches on Friday (May 3) at Amherst College, continuing through the weekend.

Williams won all three doubles matches at Tufts on Sunday. The closest match was the third, where Ephs Bryan Chow and Brian Astrachan won 8-5 over Jumbos Austin Blau (Roslyn, NY) and freshman Jay Glickman (Chappaqua, NY).

All six singles matches were determined in straight sets. Williams #1 Trey Meyer lost just one game. Zach Weiss was a 6-3, 6-0 winner in the fourth match, while Chow won 6-4, 6-1 in the #5 mach.

The lone Tufts win was by Ben Barad (San Rafael, CA), one of five Jumbos playing on Seniors Day at Voute Courts. He defeated Matt Micheli 6-4, 6-4 on the second singles court.
