Janice Lam was one of two Jumbos to shut out their singles opponents

MEDFORD - The 19th ranked Tufts women's tennis team had no trouble with Hamilton College in a NESCAC match on Sunday at Voute Courts, winning 9-0.
The Jumbos lost just four games in three doubles matches, and then were defeated in just eight games in their six singles matches. Tufts moved over .500 overall to 5-4 and is now 2-0 in NESCAC. Hamilton dropped to 8-5 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Tufts' #1 doubles pair of senior Lauren Hollender (Newton, MA) and junior Shelci Bowman (Dallas, TX) won 8-0 in their match. The other two doubles matches finished as 8-2 Tufts wins.
In singles, both Bowman and senior co-captain Janice Lam (San Francisco, CA) did not lose a game in the third and fifth matches, respectively. Hollender was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in the #5 match.
Senior co-captain Lindsay Katz (Baltimore, MD) and junior Samantha Gann (Massapequa, NY), who had combined for a #2 doubles win, both lost just two games in their first and second singles matches, respectively.
Lam won in both singles and doubles, teaming with sophomore Sophie Schonfeld (Washington, DC) at #3 doubles. First-year Catherine Worley (New Orleans, LA) had a 6-1, 6-2 victory in sixth singles.
The Jumbos will be at Williams in conference play next Saturday. Hamilton's next match is home against Wesleyan in NESCAC action on Saturday.
