PHILADELPHIA, PA - Returning to competition after just over a month long break, the Tufts women's squash team fell to host Drexel, 8-1. Winning for the Jumbos was junior Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) who returned to the Tufts lineup after missing the fall semester of play. Dahlman topped her Dragon counterpart in the number three position, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9.
Sophomore Paget Stanco (Rye, NY) scored 19 points across her three games, but it wasn't enough as Drexel's Elisabeth Money got the win in the number one position. Junior Ann Bellinger (Arlington, VA) lost in three games in the number two position, as did rookie Anna Bezahler (Philadelphia, PA) in the number four position.
Freshman Lynn Cheng (Singapore) was topped by the Dragaons' Disha Tharyamal in the number five position, while senior Caroline Howe (Carlisle, MA) fought hard in the number six position, but also lost in three games. The Jumbos lost in the seventh through ninth positions. However, junior Charlotte Griffiths (Ardmore, PA) did challenge her Dragon opponent, winning the second game before eventually falling, 11-9, 11-13, 11-8, 11-3, in the number eight position.
The women also took on Bucknell on Saturday, and will complete their second semester opening weekend of play with matches against Haverford and Yale on Sunday at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, respectively.
