Junior Ann Bellinger contributed to the win for the Jumbos over Boston College

BELMONT – With wins in the first through fifth positions, the Tufts women's squash team claimed a 5-4 victory of Boston College on Wednesday night at the Belmont Hill School. The team will look to carry that momentum into this weekend's NESCAC tournament at Hamilton College.
Sophomore Paget Stanco (Rye, NY) played the closest match of the day in the number one position, as BC's Lilly Havens forced five games, but Stanco won, 11-8, 11-4, 5-11, 4-11, 11-6. Junior Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) breezed through her match in the number two position, topping Cassandre Burke, 11-6, 11-5, 11-6.
Similarly, in the number three position, junior Ann Bellinger (Arlington, VA) had little trouble with the Eagle's Caroline Whelan, securing the 11-4, 11-6, 11-4 win. In the number four position, first-year Anna Bezahler (Philadelphia, PA) saw her opening game go to extra points before she cruised to a three game win, 13-11, 11-9, 11-2. Fellow classmate Lynn Cheng (Singapore) claimed the last victory for the Jumbos in the number five position, topping Alexis Ditomassi, 11-9, 9-11, 11-4, 11-8.
In the number six position, rookie Rowan Rice (Rye, NY) fell to BC's Carlie Ladda, 11-5, 11-5, 11-6. Junior Charlotte Griffiths (Ardmore, PA) was topped by her Eagle counterpart, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6. Sophomore Sophie Laing (Red Hook, NY) and junior Rachael Jackson (Woodinville, WA) played in the eighth and ninth spots, respectively, but fell in three games.
The Jumbo women are next in action on Friday night when they travel to Clinton, NY to take on Bowdoin in the opening round of the NESCAC Squash Championships. The match will begin at 7:00 pm at the Little Squash Center at Hamilton College.
