CLINTON, N.Y. – The #27 women's squash team is in the midst of a very busy weekend, and they fell to a strong #16 Hamilton team on Saturday afternoon, 9-0, in NESCAC squash action. The Jumbos took on Connecticut College on Friday night, but were edged 5-4. They complete a busy NESCAC weekend tomorrow with a 2:00 pm face off with Middlebury.
Senior tri-captain played one of the closest matches of the day, taking the first two games from Continental Ginger Sands, but not being able to hold on for the win. Sands came back down two games to earn the win in the second position, 9-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-6. First-year Lauren Banner played a similar match in the fourth position, taking the host's Isabelle Weisman to five games, but falling 8-11, 11-6, 11-2, 9-11, 12-10.
Sophomore Anna Bezahler won the first game against Haley Connor in the fifth position, but wasn't able to win another, falling 8-11, 11-2, 11-6, 11-2. Senior tri-captain Ann Bellinger scored 26 points in three games in the third position, but wasn't able to beat Elizabeth Morris (11-6, 11-8, 14-12).
First-year Claudia Udolf took on Hilary Gray in the first position but wasn't able to win for the Jumbos. In the sixth position, rookie Gabi Salomon fell to Rafiatou Ouro-Aguy. Fellow classmate Nellie Harvey played in the eighth position against Marina Hartnick, but wasn't able to beat the Continental. Wrapping up the Jumbos line up was junior Hannah Park in the eighth position, but she wasn't able to beat Perry Von Stade.
The Continentals won by default in the ninth position.
The Jumbos are now 1-6 on the season and will look to pick up another win on Sunday when they travel to Middlebury for a 2:00 pm start time.
