Rob Jacobson won in singles and doubles play for the Jumbos against Bowdoin

MEDFORD – The #28 Tufts men's tennis team hosted NESCAC rival and #12 Bowdoin on Saturday morning at the Voute Tennis Courts, but the Jumbos weren't able to top the Polar Bears, falling, 7-2. The men won at #2 doubles and #1 singles on the day.
Sophomore Rob Jacobson (Winnetka, IL) and freshman Brad Wong (Granite Bay, CA) took the courts at #2 doubles and topped the Bowdoin duo of Chase Savage and Luke Trinka, 8-6. The second win for the Jumbos also came from Jacobson, as he won against the Polar Bear's Noah Bragg at #1 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Junior Brian Tan (Orinda, CA) and senior Matt Pataro (Miami, FL) played at #1 doubles facing off against Bowdoin's Kyle Wolstencroft and Sam King, but weren't able to earn the win, 8-3. Similarly at #3 doubles, senior Austin Blau (Roslyn, NY) and sophomore Nick Cary (Brookline, MA) had trouble with Bragg and Chris Lord, falling, 8-2.
Wong played at #2 singles and took on Trinka, but wasn't able to earn the victory, losing, 6-2, 6-2. At #3 singles Tan played against King, but his Bowdoin opponent earned the 6-3, 6-2 win. Blau's match at #4 singles was determined by the same score, as Lord was able to top his Jumbo opponent.
Senior Zach Ladwig (Chelmsford, MA) was able to take a set from his Bowdoin counterpart at #5 singles, but ended up falling, 2-6, 7-5, 10-6. Cary rounded out the Jumbos singles lineup at #6 singles and wasn't able to earn the win over Savage, 6-2, 6-4.
With the loss the Jumbos are now 7-6 overall with a 3-4 conference mark. They will be back in action with another NESCAC match on Tuesday as they travel to Bates for a 3:30 pm start time. Bowdoin is now 8-4 this season and 3-0 in conference play. They return to the courts tomorrow when they visit Amherst for a 2:00 pm match.
