CLINTON, N.Y. – The Tufts women's volleyball team picked up their seventh conference win of the season as they traveled to NESCAC-rival Hamilton and topped the Continentals in three sets.
The Jumbos move to 17-6 on the season and 7-2 in NESCAC play while Hamilton is now 6-17 overall with a 1-8 mark in conference matches. The Jumbos won tonight's match with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-21.
Senioe Maddie Kuppe and junior Elizabeth Ahrens were the offensive leaders for the Jumbos as they both finished with nine kills each. Sophomore Katie Kim and freshman MacKenzie Bright each added eight kills to the win. Rookie Angela Yu took care of most of the setting, finishing with 19 assists. The Jumbos had ten services aces on the evening, with rookie Katie Zheng finishing with three and sophomore Alex Garrett and Ahrens each adding two.
Defensively for the Jumbos senior co-captain Carolina Berger was the leader with 19 digs while Garrett added 11 and Yu finished with seven. Ahrens and sophomore Anique Barch both finished with two block assists while junior McKenzie Humann turned in two solo blocks and two block assists.
For the Continentals, Erin Donahue was the offensive leader with nine kills. Jamie Granskie was the defensive leader with 11 digs. The offense was run by Meghan Wilkinson and Kyndal Burdin, as they finished with 15 and 10 assists respectively. Margaret O'Brien finished with three block assists and Claire Kitz added two of her own.
The Continentals will wrap up their regular season schedule when they host Connecticut College for a 2 pm start on Saturday. The Jumbos will wrap up their regular season play when they travel to Middlebury for a 2pm match on Saturday.
