BRUNSWICK, Maine - The #19 Tufts women's tennis team wrapped up its' regular season schedule on Thursday with a 9-0 loss at #10 Bowdoin. The match wraps up the regular season for the Jumbos, who will wait to see if they have made the NESCAC tournament and who their first opponent will be.
The 10th-ranked Polar Bears have hit their stride down the stretch and racked up their third shutout win in their last four matches against the 19th-ranked Jumbos. Bowdoin (12-3) will close out their regular season on Saturday at top-ranked Williams College at 10:00 a.m.
Bowdoin cruised to a trio of doubles wins with Tiffany Cheng/Joulia Likhanskaia and Kyra Silitch/Tess Trinka earning 8-0 shutouts at #1 and #2, respectively. Emma Chow and Pilar Giffenig completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at #3. For the Jumbos sophomores Conner Calabro and Chelsea Hayashi played at No. 1 doubles while first-year Lauren Louks and sophomore Jacqueline Baum took the courts at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, rookies Aandrita Deb and Zoe Miller fell.
The Polar Bears did not lose a set in singles action. Likhanskaia vs. Calabro (6-3, 6-2), Cheng vs. sophomore Alexa Meltzer (6-0, 6-0), Trinka vs. Louks (6-2, 6-1) and Samantha Stalder vs. Baum,(7-5, 6-3) won the first four completed matches. Silitch (8-4) and Emma Chow (8-2) triumphed in shortened eight-game pro sets over the Jumbos Miller and Deb.
