WATERVILLE, Maine – The No. 24 Tufts women's squash team traveled up to Colby on Saturday afternoon, but the Jumbos were not able to top the Mules, falling to the home team, 9-0.
With the loss the Jumbos move to 6-6 on the season. After opening their second semester schedule with wins over William Smith and Mount Holyoke, the Jumbos moved up two spots in the College Squash Association rankings this week. They have fallen to No. 22 Wellesley and No. 20 Colby this week.
Senior captain Paget Stanco faced off with Devin Mullaney in the first position, but she wasn't able to top her Mule counterpart. In the second position, rookie Zarena Jafry fell in three games to Julie Wolpow, but she was able to score 22 points across the three games. Rookie Sinclair Meggitt fell to Helen Bernhard in the third position.
Sophomore Claudia Udolf took the courts in the fourth position, but fell to Mikaela Johnson in three games. The closest match of the day came in the fifth position, as rookie Sahana Karthik went five games with Camilla Cricket Di Galoma, but ended up falling, 8-11, 13-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-9.
In the sixth position, freshman Chista Irani fell to Elise O'Brien. Sophomore Gabi Salomon and rookies Isabella Libassi and Lily Hayes rounded out the Jumbos line up in the seventh through ninth positions, respectively. But, all three Jumbos fell in three games to their Mules opponents.
The Jumbos will be back in action on Monday when they host Boston College at the Belmont Hill School at 9 pm.
