In Monday Night Squash Action Jumbos Top Boston College 7-2

Chista Irani was one of seven Jumbos to win against BC on Monday

BELMONT, Mass. – Winning in seven of the nine positions, the No. 24 Tufts women's squash team picked up a 7-2 win over visiting Boston College at the Belmont Hill School on Monday night.  The Jumbos won in the first seven positions to secure the win over the Eagles.  

With the win the Jumbos are now 7-6 this year and 3-2 during second semester play. This is the second time this year the Jumbos have beaten Boston College as they topped the Eagles, 8-1, during the first semester of play.

Senior captain Paget Stanco took the courts in the first position for the Jumbos and was able to pick up a three game win over Sara Rimmler, 11-4, 11-7, 12-10.  In the second position, rookie Zarena Jafry topped Caroline Whelan in three games, 11-6, 11-8, 11-3.  It only took rookie Hannah Burns three games to top Carlie Ladda in the third position, picking up the 11-9, 11-4, 11-5 win.  

Freshman Sahana Karthik faced off with Grace Levoie in the fourth position and picked up a three game win, 11-3, 11-6, 11-5.  Classmate Sinclair Meggitt also only needed three games to top Grace Tregidgo in the fifth position, 13-11, 11-4, 11-5.  Fellow rookie Chista Irani allowed her Eagle counterpart to score just nine points across three games, beating Nelsmarie Matos, 11-2, 11-3, 11-4.  The last win for the Jumbos came in the seventh position from sophomore Gabi Salomon who needed five games, but was able to top Caroline Kulig, 11-4, 4-11, 6-11, 12-10, 11-8.  

Rookie Isabella Libassi won the first game in extra points in the eighth position, but wasn't able to overcome Katherine Neuberger, falling in four games, 13-15, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6.  Sophomore Nellie Harvey rounded out the Jumbos line up in the ninth position, but she fell to Qi Ying Lim in four games, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5.

The Jumbos will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Trinity and Wesleyan for the NESCAC Championships.
