REDLANDS, CA - The Tufts University men's tennis team lost 6-3 at the University of Redlands in the Jumbos' final match of a busy week in California on Saturday.
The #22 Jumbos led the 15th-ranked Bulldogs 2-1 after doubles, but the hosts won five out of six singles matches to earn the victory. Tufts posted a 5-2 record during the week. Redlands improved to 13-3 with their fourth consecutive win.
Tufts won the second and third doubles matches. The pair of Nik Telkedzhiev and Griffin Brockman at #2 breezed to an 8-2 victory over Chase Lipscomb and Parker Wilson in the second match. The #3 duo of Jay Glickman and Rob Jacobson went extra with a 9-8 (6) victory over Taylor Hunt and Sawyer Patterson.
The lone Tufts win in singles was by sophomore #6 Danny Coran. He won 6-3, 6-4 over the Bulldogs' Hunt. Jacobson played to three sets before falling to Wilson in third singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Glickman fell 7-6 (6), 6-2 against Joey Dulle on the second singles court. The #1 match saw Lipscomb win 6-3, 6-4 versus Telkedzhiev.
The Jumbos return home and begin their New England schedule on Saturday at Amherst.
