Box Score MEDFORD - Host Tufts scored twice in the final 1:26 to come from behind for a 10-9 NESCAC win over Trinity College Saturday afternoon at Bello Field. Senior All-American Caroline Ross set up the game-tying goal and scored the game-winner with 13 seconds left on the clock.

The teams combined for 15 goals in the first half with the Jumbos leading 8-7 at intermission. In a much more defensive-oriented second half, Trinity scored the first two goals including one by Martha Griffin on a free-position shot with 8:53 remaining giving the visitors a 9-8 edge.
With the two-minute mark approaching, Tufts senior tri-captain Brigid Bowser caused a Trinity turnover and cleared the ball into the Bantam end. A shot by Ross went off the crossbar before she found freshman Gabby Vinci cutting in from the left side and connected at 1:26 tying the game 9-9.
Freshman Cecily Freliech won the ensuing draw, which led to Ross driving to the goal and sniping a high shot into the net for the 10-9 Jumbo lead. Tufts controlled the final draw to finish off the win against five-time defending NESCAC champ Trinity.
Tufts had dominated possession in the first half to take its 8-7 lead. Ross had a goal and three assists and Freliech scored a goal with an assist as Tufts built an 8-5 advantage.
However, Trinity scored twice in the final 21 seconds by sophomore Allie Barrett and junior Karly Simpson to close within 8-7 by intermission. Griffin won the draw in between the goals.
Both goalies stood out in the second half. Jumbo freshman keeper Audrey Evers made five of her seven saves in the second half. She also collected a team-high four groundballs for the game. Trinity's Emily Mooney entered at halftime and stopped four shots.
Ross led all scorers with six points on two goals and four assists. Bowser scored twice, caused two turnovers, won three groundballs and had two draw controls. Eight different players scored goals for Tufts (4-3, 1-2 NESCAC).
Simpson's three goals led Trinity (6-2, 3-1 NESCAC) while she also posted two draw controls and two groundballs. Griffin added three draw controls to her goal and assist.
The Jumbos earned a slim 20-19 margin in shots and were 13-7 winners in groundballs. Trinity had 12 of the 21 draw controls.
Tufts returns to action on Wednesday at Keene State for a 6 pm start. Trinity hosts Bowdoin in NESCAC play next Saturday at noon.
