Box Score LEWISTON, Maine - Tufts women's soccer played New England Small College Athletic Conference opponent Bates College on Saturday afternoon on Russel Street Field. Freshman forwards Elizabeth Reed and Sophie Lloyd combined for all three goals in the 3-0 win against the Bobcats. The Jumbo offense has been surging as they have scored a total of six goals in their past two games.

The Bobcats move to 6-5-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the NESCAC. The Jumbos improve to 7-2-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the NESCAC.
All of the Jumbos goals came in the second half in a 17-minute time frame. In the 48th minute, Reed shot from 20 yards out and buried the ball top shelf in the right corner of the net to put Tufts up 1-0.
Nine minutes later, the Jumbos added to their lead in the 57th minute when junior forward Alessandra Sadler took the ball into the box and passed it to Sophie Lloyd who nailed the shot for her seventh goal of the year which leads this Jumbo offense. Sadler has four assists this season which leads the team.
Reed scored her second goal of the match in the 65th minute to put the Jumbos up 3-0. Reed has five goals this season, four of which were in the past two games.
The Bobcats' first shot on goal of the match came in the 26th minute when junior Sarah Gutch had her shot denied by Tufts keeper Emily Bowers. Sophomore forward Sarah DiPillo paced the Bobcats with three shots, including two on goal. Freshman So Kim tallied a pair of shots, with one on goal.
The Jumbos outshot Bates 24-9 and had the edge in corner kicks 8-4.
Jumbo junior goalkeeper Emily Bowers (7-2-3) made six saves in the win. Bates senior goalkeeper Sarah McCarthy (5-5-1) made seven saves and gave up three goals and freshman goalkeeper Katherine Nuckols made five saves in her time in net.
Bates College will be playing again tomorrow at home against Amherst College at 12 p.m. Tufts will be playing at home on Tuesday, October 17th against Lesley College at 3 p.m. on Kraft Field.
