#4 Williams Earns NESCAC Victory over #15 Men's Tennis, 7-2

Carl-Herman Grant won a back and forth match at No. 3 singles

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The #15 Tufts men's tennis team fell at #4 Williams College on Sunday afternoon, 7-2. The match, played in Williamstown, extended a seven-match winning streak for the Ephs (11-2, 4-0 NESCAC). It was the second contest of the day for the Jumbos (7-4, 2-3), with the other half of the squad earning a 6-3 victory at Hamilton earlier in the day.

Williams set the tempo early, taking a 3-0 advantage after doubles action that featured some close contests. Ephs pair Brian Grodecki and Deepak Indrakanti earned a 9-7 victory over Rohan Gupte and Zain Ali at No. 1 doubles. Alex Taylor and Calvin Chung took down Jumbos duo Nathan Niemiec and Carl-Herman Grant at No. 2, 8-1.

Jordan Sadowsky and Arturo Kam came away with another 9-7 Williams win in the No. 3 match, beating Ethan Bershtein and Boris Sorkin from Tufts.

Grodecki, #3 in the ITA singles rankings, found more success in singles play, defeating Gupte (#34) 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1. Sorkin took #8 ranked Austin Barr to three sets, but fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 2. Ali bounced back from an earlier defeat to take down Sachin Raghavan in another tight match at No. 3, 6-4, 6-7, 10-6.

Williams' Ananth Raghavan earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Niemiec in the No. 4 contest. Jumbo freshman Grant bounced back at No. 5 to defeat Taylor, #23 in ITA rankings, 7-5, 7-5. Danny Coran fell to Kam 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.

Tufts returns to the court on Friday when they travel to take on NESCAC opponent Bates at 2:00 p.m. The Ephs are back in action on Saturday, facing Bowdoin.
