#15 Men's Tennis Earns Second Victory of the Day, Beats Babson 7-2

Jumbos sophomore Jason Scanlon was part of a 9-7 Tufts win in No. 3 doubles

BABSON PARK - The #15 Tufts men's tennis team kept rolling on Saturday afternoon, taking down Babson 7-2. The match, played at Babson Tennis Courts, was the Jumbos' second victory of the day, following a 9-0 victory over Vassar earlier Saturday.

The Jumbos built on their success earlier in the day with another strong showing in the doubles portion, gaining a 3-0 advantage over the Beavers. Carl-Herman Grant and Nathan Niemiec improved to 2-0 on the day in doubles play, defeating Babson's Brandon Rosenbluth and Chris Kolesnik in the No. 1 match. Boris Sorkin and Ethan Bershtein got the better of Ben Roque and Andre Libnic at No. 2, 8-4.

Jumbos Jason Scanlon and Niko Hereford held off Beavers pair Dan Levitan and Dylan Pace in a close contest at No. 3, 9-7.

Sorkin kept his momentum going in No. 1 singles, taking down Libnic 7-5, 6-0. Grant picked up his fourth victory of the day (a perfect 2-0 in both doubles and singles matches), besting Rosenbluth 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 2 tilt. Niemiec closed out a strong overall showing of his own on the day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kolesnik at No. 3.

Levitan found success for the Beavers at No. 4 singles in a tight match that came down to a third set tie-breaker, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9). The No. 5 contest proved to be a nail-biter as well, with Bershtein coming out on top over Babson's Dylan Levy, 7-5, 6-7 (3), 11-9.

Cameron Gruss picked up Babson's second win of the day in the No. 6 singles match, defeating Tufts freshman Armaan Kalra 6-4, 6-3.

The Jumbos will try to earn a clean sweep for the weekend tomorrow, when they return to Voute Courts to face NESCAC foe #3 Middlebury at 1:00 p.m. Babson is also back in action tomorrow, traveling to play Coast Guard at 1:00 p.m.
