Women's Sailing Finishes 16th at Jen Harris Showcase Final in Maryland

Ann Sheridan crewed A division races for the Jumbos.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Jumbo women's sailing team finished 16th at the Jen Harris Showcase Finals hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy on the Severn River Saturday and Sunday.

Tufts had earned a berth into the Showcase Final by placing third at a qualifying event two weeks ago. The top nine from that first regatta advanced to this weekend.

Ten races were competed in two divisions. Tufts compiled finishes totaling to 112 in A's and 139 in B's for a 251 final. They were 10 behind 15th-place Tulane (241).

Brown University won the Jen Harris Showcase Final with a 68-46-114 scoring line. They were 12 in front of runner-up Yale (126).

The Jumbo team of junior skipper Talia Toland with sophomore crew Ann Sheridan was 12th in A division. They had a best finish of fourth in the third race of the weekend and they were also fifth in the ninth start.

For B division, Tufts raced sophomore skipper Abbie Carlson with sophomore crew Jessica Friedman. They were 17th in B races, with a sixth in the fifth race as their best performance.

An 8-12 knot Southeast wind powered eight races in each division on Saturday. Sunday's five knot Easterly allowed for two races per division before racing was called off for the day due to no breeze.
