Women's Sailing Places 7th at Victorian Coffee Urn in Maine

Mallory Hood crewed in both divisions for Tufts.

CAMBRIDGE – In their final team regatta of the fall season, the Tufts University women's sailing team placed seventh out of 16 teams at the Bowdoin-hosted Victorian Coffee Urn on Saturday and Sunday.

Across 12 races in two divisions, the Jumbos scored 90 in A's and 97 in B's for a 187 total. They were 30 behind sixth-place MIT (157).

The Jumbo A team had a best finish of second-place in the 12th and final race. They also earned a pair of thirds over the course of the weekend. Junior Talia Toland skippered with sophomores Ann Sheridan and Mallory Hood sharing the crew duties. Sheridan handled the first through ninth and 12th races with Hood taking the other two (10-11). Tufts finished sixth in the division.

In B division, Tufts was third in the opening race and fifth in the final start of the weekend. Sophomore Abbie Carlson skippered with four different crews. Sophomore Jessica Friedman (first through seventh races), Hood (8-9), senior Charlotte Lenz (10) and junior Lindsay Powers (11-16) were the crews. Tufts placed seventh in the B races.

Yale University won the Urn with a 41-50-91 scoring line.
