NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Tufts University women's sailing team came in 11th place out of 16 teams at the Stu Nelson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday and Sunday.
In 14 races across two divisions, the Jumbos had scores of 144 in A's and 121 in B's for a 265 total. They were eight back of 10th-place Penn (257) and nine ahead of 12th-place MIT (274).
Tufts was 12th in A division, where sophomore Abbie Carlson skippered and classmate Jessica Friedman crewed. They posted a pair of second-place finishes in the ninth and 12th races of the weekend.
For B's, where the Jumbos scored fourth-place points in the third and fifth starts, freshman Annika Fedde skippered with sophomore Juliana Testa as crew. They tied for ninth in scoring with MIT, but lost a number of high-place finishes tie-breaker and took 10th in the division.
Stanford won the regatta with 53 in A division and 66 in B's for a 119 final.
