LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall College women's squash team earned a 6-3 victory at home against Tufts University on Saturday.
The competitive contest saw four matches go five games, two that lasted four games and two others closely contested three-game finishes.
Franklin & Marshall won all four five-game matches including at #3 where Emily Knapp defeated Tufts senior co-captain Catherine Shanahan 11-7, 7-11, 11-13, 12-10, 11-2.
The Jumbos' top victory came in the second match where freshman Isa Schneider defeated Emily Bartos from F&M 11-7, 11-8, 4-11, 11-9. In the other four-game match at #1, Diplomat Audrey Berling defeated Jumbo Claire Davidson 10-12, 11-1, 11-7, 11-4.
Jumbo junior Rachel Windreich took three close games in the sixth match 11-6, 13-11, 11-9. The third Jumbo victory was in the ninth match where freshman Beverly Vo defeated Julia Bevan 11-4, 11-2, 11-8.
The Diplomats were ranked #19 in the most recent College Squash Association poll. Tufts was at #17.
The Jumbos (2-2) return home to play again tomorrow, hosting Saint Lawrence at Harvard starting at noon. This was the last match of the fall semester for Franklin & Marshall (3-2).
