CLINTON, N.Y. - The 16th-ranked Tufts University women's squash opened its 2021-22 season with a strong 9-0 victory at #22 Hamilton College on Friday. Seven of the nine Jumbo players were making their collegiate debuts.
The Jumbos won eight of the nine matches in three straight games. Freshman Nieve Monderer had the most convincing victory in the fifth spot with 11-2, 11-1, 11-2 scores. Sophomore Sanjana Vissapragada in the #3 position and senior Diya Sanghi at #6 both lost just 12 points in their victories.
The most competitive match was won by Tufts senior Natalie Bartlett, who was down 2-1 in the #8 match before rallying to win the final two games and take the match 11-8, 9-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-4. Freshman Ellie Ackerman won a competitive three-game match in the seventh position 11-7, 13-11, 11-6.
Jumbo freshman Riddhi Joshi made her collegiate debut in the #1 position and defeated Hamilton's Eliana Good 11-5, 11-9, 11-3. Behind her at #2 sophomore Caroline Chin also debuted well for Tufts with 11-7, 11-2, 11-9 scores for a win.
