MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Tufts University men's swimming & diving team finished its fall semester action with a tri-meet at Wesleyan University on Saturday also featuring Williams College.
The Jumbos split their competitions, winning against the host Cardinals (269-49) and losing to the Ephs (213-108).
Three Tufts swimmers won races on Saturday, including a pair of freshman. Eric Lundgren took the 200 backstroke in a 1:49.49 time and current NESCAC Performer of the Week Ethan Schreier won the 200 butterfly (1:49.15). Junior Peter LaBarge (pictured) also sprinted to a 20.93 victory in the 50 freestyle for Tufts.
The Jumbos earned several seconds at the tri-meet, including Schreier's 200 freestyle (1:40.23). Junior Zach Lawrence was the runner-up in both three-meter diving (257.30) and one-meter diving (264.40) Sophomore Eli Houlton in the 500 freestyle (4:38.01), freshman Brian Uribe in the 400 individual medley (4:04.17), freshman Soeren Euvrard in the 100 butterfly (50.12) and sophomore Bora Calis in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.25) also had runner-up performances.
Schreier's 200 fly and Lundgren's 200 back were both quicker than the NCAA B cuts for those events.
Tufts also had the second-place 200 freestyle relay with Euvrard, Charlie Duffy, Nate Tingen and LaBarge.
The Jumbos won't compete again until January 21 at Boston College with Dartmouth.
