Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Twelve different players contributed points to an 11-goal first quarter that sent the Tufts University men's lacrosse team on its way to a 27-11 victory at Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon.

In the new NESCAC this spring with teams divided into East and West divisions, the game was played as a non-conference tilt. The Jumbos improved to 3-0 while the Cardinals dropped to 1-1.
Wesleyan scored the first goal of the game by Jake Sexton, but Tufts would build an 11-3 advantage after 15 minutes. Mac Bredahl and Matt Treiber both scored twice in the period, while Matt Boccardo and Bryce Adam each had two assists. The Jumbos attempted 23 shots in the first.
After Tufts scored the first four goals of the second quarter, their lead would not dip under 10 for the rest of the game. They led 15-3 on Jack Boyden's goal at 10:13 of the second. Wes got the next two - by Sexton and Alex Moynihan, but Tufts finished the period with a man-up goal by Treiber and led 17-5 at the break.
The Jumbos out-scored the hosts 7-3 in the third period and led 24-8 heading into the fourth. Treiber, who scored a game-high five goals, had two in the third including another man-up tally. Shayne Gallagher, Matt Chase and Pat Grahling scored Wesleyan goals in the third.
Tufts' lead capped at 19 (27-8) when Matt Rebuck scored his first collegiate goal at 3:42 of the fourth. Sexton scored the final two goals of the game for Wesleyan to give him four for the contest.
Max Waldbaum (3 goals, 3 assists), Bredahl (2 goals, 3 assists) and Kurt Bruun (3 goals, 1 assist) joined Treiber as Jumbo offensive leaders. Bruun also caused three turnovers. Aidan Hesse and Kyle Helfrich combined to go 22 for 32 on face-offs, with Hesse winning 13 of 17 in his season debut. Joe Theuer stopped eight shots in goal during three quarters of play.
Gallagher finished with two goals and two assists for Wesleyan. Kyle Camphausen and Brendan Keane (two CT's) both collected four ground balls. Jake McMahon came on in relief of goalie Max Powers and made 11 saves over 40+ minutes.
The Jumbos finished with advantages of 70-41 in shots, 50-34 in ground balls and 26-16 on face-off victories.
