MEDFORD - The Tufts University men's tennis team made quick work of NESCAC opponent Connecticut College today with a 9-0 win at home on Lower Campus Courts. The match was Tufts' first on campus since April 2019.
The Jumbos did not lose more than three points in any of the 15 sets they played against the Camels today. Tufts improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while Connecticut College dropped to 0-5 and 0-3.
Paris Pentousis and Niko Heredford started the day for the Jumbos with an 8-2 win in second doubles. That was followed by two 8-3 doubles victories earned by the #1 tandem of Boris Sorkin and Josh Belandres, and the #3 team of Owen Bartok and Mauricio Gutierrez.
Sorkin dominated his first singles match against Julien Tien 6-0, 6-1 to give Tufts a 4-0 lead. The team victory for the Jumbos was wrapped up when Pentousis scored a pair of 6-1 wins versus Aaron Fleishman in fourth singles.
Isaac Gorelik was next off for the Jumbos after a 6-3, 6-1 win on the second singles court. Rishabh Sharda won his first game at #3 singles 6-0 and followed with a 6-3 second set to take his match. Bartok lost just two first-set games in his sixth singles match, then freshman Corey Marley closed out the 9-0 final in fifth singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
