Talbot 6th After Day 1 At ICSA Women's Single-handed Sailing Nationals

NEWPORT, R.I. - Tufts junior Alex Talbot is sixth at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Single-handed National Championship after one day of racing in Brenton Cove on Saturday.

The three Jumbos competing at the regatta all placed among the top 10 out of 14 competitors on Saturday. Talbot is sixth with a 60 score, sophomore Annika Fedde is right behind in seventh at 61 and junior Abbie Carlson is in ninth place (71).

Eight races were contested on Saturday and Talbot was consistent with three fifth-place finishes. She was in the top 10 for six of the 10 races. Fedde had a best performance of second in the seventh start of the day and also posted a pair of sixth-place races. Carlson was fourth, second and fifth in her third through fifth outings.

Jacksonville's Charlotte Rose leads the regatta with a 20 score, which includes three first-place finishes.

The second day of the championship starts tomorrow at 10:30 am.
