Men's Tennis Completes 4-0 Run Through NESCAC East With Shutout Of Trinity

Rishabh Sharda dropped just one game during his fourth singles win today.

MEDFORD - The Tufts University men's tennis team completed its NESCAC East schedule with a perfect 4-0 record following today's 9-0 victory over Trinity College at home.

The Jumbos (4-1 overall) won the top seed in the East and will play in the 2021 NESCAC Championship match next Saturday at Williams College, who won the West.

Today versus the Bantams, the Jumbos were dominant. They lost just eight games in the three doubles matches and 20 games in six singles contests.

Senior Boris Sorkin led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 win in #1 singles against Trinity's Granville Kaynor. Sorkin also paired with #1 doubles mate Josh Belandres to win 8-1 against their Bantam opponents. Tufts junior Jack Moldenhauer also did not lose a game in his #5 singles victory.

Tufts sophomore Rishabh Sharda won 6-1, 6-0 in fourth singles. He was also part of an 8-3 third doubles win with teammate Mauricio Gutierrez. The Jumbo doubles sweep today was completed by Paris Pentousis and Niko Hereford in the second match by an 8-4 score.

Jumbo singles victories were also notched by Isaac Gorelik with a 6-2, 6-4 final count at #2, Pentousis on the third court (6-2, 6-4) and Owen Bartok in the sixth match (6-3, 6-4).

It's an unusual year with eight conference teams divided up into two divisions and only the top teams from each advancing, but Tufts has earned its first-ever spot in the conference championship match.
