Men's Tennis Duo Falls in ITA Cup Doubles Final

ROME, Ga. - Sophomores Derin Acaroglu and Vuk Vuksanovic of the Tufts University men's tennis team lost in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup doubles championship match on Saturday afternoon at Berry College.

Playing Visha Aduru and James Hopper from Case Western Reserve University, who were the #3 seed in the ITA Cup doubles bracket, the Jumbo duo took the lead with a 7-5 first-set victory. Aduru and Hopper won the second set 6-4 to tie the match at one apiece. The third-set, championship tie-breaker was won by Aduru and Hopper 10-3 for the title.

The Tufts pair of Acaroglu and Vuksanovic had won the ITA New England Region doubles championship earlier this season, then won three matches at the ITA Cup before their defeat in the final today.

The ITA Cup serves as the fall national championships for Division III, as well as Division II, NAIA and JUCO.

Today's action concluded the 2022 fall season for head coach Karl Gregor's Jumbo Men's Tennis team.
