MEDFORD, MA – Tufts University will begin the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) playoffs this Friday as the No. 2 seed facing off against the No. 7 ranked Trinity College Bantams.

The Jumbos are entering the tournament on a three-game win streak including a 3-1 win over Brandeis, and two 3-0 matches against Connecticut College and Bowdoin respectively. They finished their season in Brunswick, ME against Bowdoin where they were led by 10 kills from both
Grace Legris and
Maya Lightfoot. This put the final stamp on the regular season for Tufts as they finished the regular season with a record of 18-5, 9-1 NESCAC.
Trinity is coming into the tournament after a 1-3 loss to Middlebury on Saturday October 29. The Bantams saw Ava Boloyan put on 12 kills while she was backed by 11 kills from Eva Lekovic. They also saw some defensive support from Julia Torre as she totaled 15 digs in the match. Taking that game in mind Trinity is looking to rally back with an upset in the tournament.
Tufts offense has been led by senior outside hitter
Jennelle Yarwood with 221 kills which is fifth in the NESCAC. Yarwood leads her team in kills, but it should also be noted that the Jumbos are first in the conference with total team kills with 1020. Tuft is second in the NESCAC for hitting percentage with a .222, thanks to the third ranked hitting percentage player in the conference
Grace Legris. Legris has a .325 hitting percentage on the season. The Jumbos generate a lot of their offense from assists. They lead the conference in assists per set with 11.82 which is also ranked 29th nationally.
As far as defense goes for the Jumbos,
Stephanie Lee leads them with 334 total digs on the season. This puts Lee at 4.24 digs per set which is seventh in the conference. Lee is joined on the NESCAC leader boards by
Maddie Yu at number 16, who has totaled 222 digs on the year. The Jumbos defense ranks third in the NESCAC with allowing 10.32 opponent kills per set. They also hold strong at the number five spot for blocks with a total of 149 throughout the season.
The Jumbos have received on player of the week award this season as
Jennelle Yarwood was recognized for the honors on October 17. Yarwood received the award for a 3-0 week for her team seeing wins against Bowdoin, Amherst, and Williams. In the three matches Yarwood totaled 36 kills on a .261 hitting percentage as well as 27 digs. She was the only Jumbo to receive the award on the year.
Trinity has seen their offense develop from junior captain Lola Craig as she leads the team in total kills on the year with 192. This ranks her 14
th in the NESCAC this season. The Bantams are ranked eighth in the conference for total team kills with 782 this year. Molly Bernstein backs her co-captain ranking eighth in the NESCAC for a .303 hitting percentage. She is also ranked 125
th in the country for players individual hitting percentage.
The Bantam defense ranks sixth in the conference for blocks per set with 1.71 blocks, holding a national ranking spot at 101
st. Julia Torre leads the Bantams with a total of 255 digs this season, which puts her in at the number 10 spot in the conference. Isabella Caffuzzi is a major part of the defense as she has totaled 47 blocks on the year giving her the second highest blocks per set average on the roster. Trinity is second in the conference for opponent digs allowed. They have only allowed 1164 digs through 80 sets which gives them a 14.55 average digs per set.
