REDLANDS, Calif. – In the last match of their west coast trip on Saturday afternoon, the #8 Tufts University men's tennis team earned another 8-1 victory against the #21 University of Redlands Bulldogs. On their 5-0 spring break trip, Tufts had three 8-1 wins and outscored their opponents 38-7 overall.
The Jumbos (6-1) swept the doubles competition as the pair of Josh Belandres (pictured) and Rishabh Sharda defeated Redlands' Stefan Hester and Thomas Reznik in the #1 match 8-6. Niko Hereford and Derin Acaroglu won the #2 match against the Bulldogs' team of Andrew Yip and Jack Mattox 8-3. In the #3 match, Tufts' Isaac Gorelik and Dylan Glickman earned an 8-5 victory over Max Hoffman and Luke Watson.
Redlands' only victory of the day came in the #4 singles match when Donovan Lilov defeated Acaroglu 7-5, 6-3. Tufts had already clinched the team win by that point. Victories by Sharda in the #2 match over Mattox(6-4, 6-2) and Vuk Vuksanovic in the #3 singles match versus Yip (6-4, 7-5) assumed the Jumbos of the team win.
Gorelik's 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Hester at the one, Belandres defeating Josh Nelson in fifth singles 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 and Jack Moldenhauer getting the 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over Reznik on the sixth singles court wrapped up the day.
Tufts will now return to the east coast for a NESCAC matchup with Trinity College on Saturday, April 2nd at 10 am.
