NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Tufts men's tennis team notched their seventh consecutive win after defeating Connecticut College 9-0 in a Sunday morning NESCAC conference tilt. The Jumbos pick up their second road victory of the weekend and improve to 8-1 (NESCAC 3-1) while Connecticut College falls to 5-6 (0-4 NESCAC).
Both teams had played conference matches the previous day. The Camels lost at home against Bates 8-1, and Tufts beat Trinity in Hartford, taking eight matches to the Bantam's one. Tufts continued their stellar run of form on Sunday, winning every match in straight sets.
On the doubles side, freshmen duo Vuk Vuksanovic and Derin Acaroglu picked up an 8-2 victory. Former Kent Denver high school teammates Jack Moldenhauer and Niko Hereford also won 8-2, while Corey Marley and Dylan Glickman blanked their rivals 8-0.
Tufts comfortably took all six singles matches. Acaroglu, Moldenhauer and freshman Lachie Macintosh each conceded only gave up game in their two-set matches. Junior Josh Belandres played in the #2 spot and earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory while sophomore Corey Marley won 6-2, 6-1 in the fifth position. Senior Akash Verma rounded out the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the sixth spot.
Both teams will be back in action on April 9 as Tufts travels to NESCAC rival Wesleyan University (3-5, NESCAC 2-2), while the Camels will journey to Waterville to face off against Colby College (5-2, NESCAC 1-0).
