HARTFORD, CT (January 10, 2023) -- The No. 12 Tufts University women's squash team traveled to top-seeded Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play, but the host Bantams were too much as the Jumbos dropped a 9-0 decision Tuesday afternoon.
The Jumbos did pick up a pair of games on the top-ranked squad in the College Squash Association rankings, as
Isa Schneider earned a 11-9 win in the first game before falling 9-11, 11-4, 11-6 and 11-1 at No. 7. At No. 9, Ellen Xu earned the first set as well with a score of 11-8, but Nanna Cakeke of Trinity rallied to win the next three games 11-3, 11-3 and 11-2.
At No. 1, first-year
Vharsha Dinesh dropped an 11-3, 11-7 and 11-3 match to Jana Safy while
Riddhi Joshi was topped by Malak Moustafa 11-1, 11-1 and 11-5. Mouran Youssef of Trinity bested
Nieve Monderer 11-5, 11-7 and 11-7 at No. 3, while Caroline Chen fell at No. 4 to Hannah Chukwu 11-2, 11-4 and 11-7.
The Bantams would continue the wins at No. 5, as Aleezah Burham fell to Lujan Palacios 11-4, 11-4 and 11-9, while
Sanjana Vissapragada fell in straight sets 11-2, 11-4 and 11-4. The final match of the day was at No. 8, as
Ami Sao dropped an 11-8, 11-4 and 11-7 match to Fabiola Cabello.
The Jumbos will return to NESCAC play on Saturday, taking on No. 14 Amherst College in Amherst, MA.
