NORTHAMPTON, MA (October 8, 2023) -- The Tufts University women's tennis team saw it's lone remaining players finish as the runners-up in the "A" draw consolation doubles draw, falling to an MIT duo in the third and final day of action at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament (NEWITT) in play from Smith College in Northampton, MA.

The Tufts pairing of first-year Natalie Hu and sophomore Stephanie Woodbury battled hard in doubles action, but fell in a tiebreak 7-4 for the initial 8-7 loss to fall behind 1-0. In singles, Anastasia Samets of MIT earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Woodbury to clinch the win for the Engineers, HU was credited with a walkover win in her singles outing.

The Jumbos are now done for the fall season, but will be back in action in the spring on March 2 on the road, traveling to Division I Bryant University at 7:30 p.m. to get the 2024 portion of the season underway.
