Jumbo Volleyball Bound For NCAA Tournament After At-Large Selection

MEDFORD, MA (November 13, 2023) -- The Tufts University volleyball team gathered together for the NCAA Selection Show on Monday afternoon, and their resume was just enough to earn one of the 22 at-large bids into the 2023 Division III NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament field of 64.

The Jumbos (14-10) lost in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semifinals to Williams College, but were still selected due to its extremely high strength of schedule and six wins over regionally-ranked opponents. Tufts will head to host site Ithaca College to take on Eastern University of the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth, who earned an automatic bid after defeating Stevenson University Saturday 3-0 in the title match.

The winner of the Tufts-Eastern match will battle against No. 7 NYU (29-4) or Eastern Nazarene (28-2) in the NCAA Second Round, while Babson College (24-6), Stevenson (22-7), Ithaca (25-4) and Framingham State (21-10) will make up the other side of the NCAA Regional site. Action is slated to get started on Thursday in Ben Light Gymnasium on the campus of Ithaca, with game times still to be set.

The NESCAC got four teams into the NCAA Tournament, as champion Wesleyan University along with at-large picks Williams College and Middlebury College were selected for the field.
