PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 19, 2023) -- The No. 11 Tufts University women's squash team finished action for the 2022-23 season, as it dropped the 3/4 final of the Kurtz Cup 6-3 to Stanford University in action from the College Squash Association Championships at Penn Squash Center.
The Jumbos would win three of the four spots at the bottom half of the lineup, but Tufts was unable to pick up a win at the top half as the Cardinal earned the victory. At No. 1, Si Ma knocked off
Vharsha Dinesh in four exciting games with scores of 11-6, 14-12, 11-13, 11-9. At No. 2,
Riddhi Joshi was tied a game apiece but would end up falling in four games, 11-5, 8-11, 11-6 and 11-3.
At No. 3,
Caroline Chin was topped 11-3, 11-9 and 11-9 by Khushi Kukadia, and Lucia Bicknell knocked off
Aleezah Burhan 11-2, 11-6 and 11-7. The longest match of the day came at No. 5, as
Nieve Monderer played an epic five-game thriller with Mary Duffy. Monderer won the first and four games, but couldn't rally to take the fifth as Duffy earned a 2-11, 11-9, 11-9, 9-11, 11-4 win.
The Jumbos got a win from
Sanjana Vissapragada at No. 6, as she won her second match of the weekend with an 11-8, 11-9 and 11-4 scoreline. Vissapragada moved to a 15-5 on the season, as her 15 victories led the squad this season.
Ellyn Xu won in three games, rolling with scores of 11-1, 11-3 and 11-5 at No. 8, while
Ami Sao won 11-6, 11-3 and 11-2 at No. 9. Xu moved to 14-6 on the season while Sao earned her 12th victory. In her final team match of the season,
Isa Schneider dropped a four-game match to Chelsea Cho 4-11, 11-9, 11-1 and 11-7.
The Jumbos finished the season 13-7 overall, while falling only once in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play to top-rated Trinity College. Senior
Isa Schneider will compete at the CSA Individual Championships the first weekend of March.
