Emily Piergustavo Hired As Assistant Coach in Softball

MEDFORD, MA (August 15, 2023) - Emily Piergustavo, a Division I player collegiately, has been hired as an assistant coach for the Tufts University softball team.

From Milford, Massachusetts originally, Piergustavo was a member of the softball team at the University of Connecticut as an undergraduate. She played for the Huskies from 2019 to 2022 before graduating with a degree in sport management. An infielder for the Huskies who primarily played the corner positions, Piergustavo appeared in 75 games with 45 starts during her career. She was also a member of UConn's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Piergustavo then played one season at St. Bonaventure University in 2023 while earning a Master's degree in sport administration. There she made made 45 starts between shortstop and third base for the Bonnies.

"We are really excited to welcome Emily to Tufts and the TUSB family," head coach Lauren Ebstein said. "Emily's collegiate playing experience has prepared her to help develop our student-athletes both on and off the field. Her passion and love for the game is apparent when she is on the field and she is a natural relationship builder which will be great off the field.  She will be a great addition to our coaching staff and we are lucky and grateful to have her join us."

At Milford High School, Piergustavo played for the 2017 Massachusetts Division I State Championship squad and was the Hockomock League MVP that season. She was a senior captain in softball, she was also a two-time captain of the basketball team and played volleyball as well.

"I'm extremely grateful about joining the staff and the opportunity Coach Ebstein has given me," she said. "Tufts softball has a legacy of excellence on the field and in the classroom and I cannot wait to be a part of it."
