MEDFORD, MA (January 28, 2024) - The Tufts women's squash team swept the weekend first defeating Williams 5-4 last night, and today took care of business besting No. 16 Middlebury 8-1 at the Tufts Squash Center in Medford Mass.
The Jumbos (9-4) were able to show great depth throughout the whole match. The night sophomore
Vharsha Dinesh at the No. 1 spot, she was able to win in three straight sets over Lindsey Burnham 11-5, 11-4, 11-7. at the No. 2 spot freshman Maria Arseniev was defeated in straight sets marking the Jumbo's first loss of the afternoon to Sabrina Schwarz.
After the No. 2 match, the Jumbos were able to win the remaining seven matches of the night. At the No. 3 spot, junior
Riddhi Joshi was able to win in straight sets besting Isabella Ronda 11-9, 11-6, 11-7. At the No. 4 spot, senior
Caroline Chin defeated Abby Holding. The match needed all five sets but after losing the first two Chin came on strong and finished winning the last three sets.
At the No. 5 spot, junior Aleeza Burhan was able to win in straight sets as she defeated Margaux Comai 11-6, 11-3, 11-8, only needing 15 minutes to complete the match which was the quickest of the night. At the No. 6 spot, junior
Nieve Monderer was also able to complete her match in straight sets defeating Eva Finney 11-3, 11-4, 11-2.
In the bottom ladder of the match No. 7 senior
Sanjana Vissapragada won her match in four sets against Maya Bardorf 5-11, 11-7, 11-1, 11-9. At the No. 8 spot, senior
Ellyn Xu bested Mariana Reedich 11-7, 3-11, 6-11, 16-14, 11-7. At No. 9 freshman
Chloe Bergam finished out the match by winning in five sets against Madeline Schwarz 10-12, 12-10, 11-3, 8-11, 13-11.
The Jumbos will take on Bates College on Saturday February 3, at 3 PM, at the Tufts Squash Center on the campus of Tufts University.
