MEDFORD, MA (November 16, 2024) -- The Tufts University women's squash squad battled hard with No. 2 Trinity College, but the visiting Bantams were too much for the Jumbos in a 9-0 win for Trinity in action from the Tufts Squash Center Saturday afternoon.
All but one of the matches was a sweep for the second-ranked Bantams, as senior
Aleezah Burhan was able to pick up a game at No. 5 over Noa Roemero before falling 11-9, 2-11, 6-11 and 4-11. At No. 1,
Vharsha Dinesh was topped by Jana Sofy 11-4, 11-6 and 11-3, while
Maria Arsenieva fell to Malak Ashraf Kamal 11-8, 11-6 and 11-3 at the No. 2 spot.
At No. 3,
Riddhi Joshi played well but fell to Hannah Chukwu 12-10, 11-7 and 11-2, while first-year
Anika Goyal battled before dropping a 11-7, 11-7 and 11-5 at the No. 4 spot. Senior
Nieve Monderer was topped 11-6, 11-5 and 11-5 by Janna Ashmawy at No. 6, and first-year
Indira Moshi was defeated by Lujan Palacios 12-10, 11-3 and 11-5.
Sophomore
Sonya Bajaj tested Fabiola Cabello in an 11-6, 11-7 and 11-4 defeat at No. 8, and
Sora Karanja dropped an 11-5, 11-6 and 11-9 decision at No. 9 to Varvara Kliueva.
The Jumbos difficult start to the season continues on Sunday afternoon, taking on No. 1 Harvard University in Cambridge, MA at noon.
