PHILADEPHIA, PA (November 24, 2024) -- The Tufts University women's squash team battled with No. 10 Drexel University Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as the host Dragons knocked off the No. 13 Jumbos 7-2 in action from the Spector Squash Center.
The Jumbos earned wins at No. 7 and No. 9 on Sunday afternoon, as senior
Nieve Monderer finished her weekend with a 3-1 win over Lijana Sultana with scores of 5-11, 11-7, 11-9 and 11-9. Sophomore
Chloe Bergam also had to fight off two rallies, as she won in five games 11-5, 8-11, 12-10, 10-12 and 12-10.
First-year
Indira Moshi was a tough-luck loser on Sunday, as she pushed Claudia Adam to five games before falling 8-11, 11-5, 12-10, 8-11 and 11-2. At No. 1,
Vharsha Dinesh also played well but couldn't complete the win as Moa Bonnemark of Drexel earned an 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 11-4 and 11-6.
At No. 2, Sohni Vermain fell to Emma Bartley 11-3, 11-8 and 11-7, while
Maria Arsenieva was topped in four games 11-9, 11-8, 9-11 and 11-7.
Riddhi Joshi was topped in four games by Emilia Falconi 11-5, 9-11, 11-5 and 11-8, and senior
Aleezah Burhan fell at No. 6 with scores 12-10, 7-11, 12-10 and 11-2.
First-year
Anika Goyal also fell in three games at No. 5, 11-8, 11-6 and 11-6.
In exhibition action at No. 10,
Bridget Schutt was bested 11-2, 11-5 and 11-2 by Maddison Laine.
The Jumbos will return to the court December 7 at home at 1 p.m. to take on Cornell University in the final match of the 2024 part of the schedule.
