MEDFORD, MA (December 7, 2024) -- No. 12 Tufts University picked up a pair of wins Saturday against No. 8 Cornell University, but the Big Red were a little too much as the visitors earned a 7-2 win over the Jumbos in women's squash action from Tufts Squash Center.
Tufts (1-5) got a nice win at No. 3 by sophomore
Maria Arsenieva, as she twice shook off rallies from Ananya Dabke to earn an 11-6, 12-14, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5 win for the Jumbos. The win for Arsenieva improved her overall record this season to 2-4 and 2-2 at No. 3.
First-year
Anika Goyal earned her first collegiate win on Saturday, as she was able to best Christa Kay in four games, 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8 at No. 5. The Jumbos were in many more matches that didn't go their way, as
Chloe Bergam won the first and fourth game in her match with Kahjin Yap at No. 9 but wasn't able to clinch the victory as Cornell earned a 6-11, 11-3, 11-4, 7-11, 11-8 win.
Senior
Riddhi Joshi also battled to a five-game thriller, as she dropped a heartbreaker to Alysa Ali 11-9, 12-10, 9-11, 5-11, 11-5 at No. 4. Senior
Nieve Monderer also battled at No. 7, falling in four games to Sabine Ball 11-8, 11-6, 8-11, 11-8.
The Jumbos will be off until after the New Year, traveling to San Diego, California on January 10 at 11 a.m. to battle Denison University at Access Youth Academy.
