MEDFORD, MA (February 3, 2024) - The No. 11 Tufts University women's squash team played their final NESCAC game of the year against No. 19 Bates College Saturday afternoon at the Tufts Squash Center in Medford Mass. The Jumbos were able to prevail 6-3 in a back-and-forth squash match.
The Jumbos ( 10-4) started the day at the No. 1 spot with sophomoreÂ
Vharsha Dinesh who was defeated in four sets by Andy Martagon 11-4, 11-5, 7-11, 11-9. The Jumbos would answer right back with a win by juniorÂ
Riddhi Joshi at the No. 2 spot. She faced off against Navya Gupta, the match went the full five-set distance but Joshi was able to capture the victory  9-11, 16-14, 11-3, 8-11, 11-7. At the No. 3, spot senior
Caroline Chin was defeated in five sets by Aasya Patel  11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 6-11, 11-8.
At the No. 4 spot, juniorÂ
Nieve Monderer was able to defeat Sumairaa Suleman in five sets 11-9, 11-13, 5-11, 11-2, 11-3. At the No. 5 spot, the Jumbos took the first lead of the day thanks to seniorÂ
Sanjana Vissapragada who defeated Tia Billimoria in three sets 11-8, 11-8, 11-3. At the No. 6 spot the Bobcats tied up the match, freshmanÂ
Sora Karanja was bested in four sets by Grace Flaherty 15-17, 17-15, 11-8, 11-2.
In the bottom of the ladder, the Jumbos dominated winning the three remaining matches in straight sets to capture the victory. At the No. 7 spot, sophomoreÂ
Mafi Pinot defeated Angelina Amastal 11-5, 11-8, 11-4. At the No. 8 spot, senior
Kate Chang bested Daina Velez 11-3, 11-9, 11-4. In the No. 9 spot freshman Â
Bridget Schutt defeated Hollis Hale 11-6, 11-5, 11-8.Â
The Jumbos will play their last regular season match on Tuesday, February 6, against squash powerhouse No. 2 Harvard University at the Tufts Squash Center in Medford Mass.
